Beginner and intermediate students, you will receive the individual attention you need to move at your own pace and learn skills that will open up a new world of painting technique and color!

About My Classes
I offer a highly supportive and warm environment for students to explore their journey in the world of watercolor painting. Through lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, evaluations, and individual attention, you will learn the fundamentals of design, composition, light values and color
temperature, basic color theory, and painting techniques used in painting watercolors... all skills and tools that will help you paint confidently on your own.

Class Format
Each class will begin with a lecture and demonstration, followed by step-by step instruction. Once you are working on your own, I will help each student with questions and techniques.
Class Schedule
Ongoing Thursdays: Beginner to Intermediate watercolor 12:00-3:00pm.
All students must register and pay prior to starting a class.

Workshops
At my upcoming workshops you can combine both passions to create a beautiful watercolor portrait. Imagine how cool it will be to have the portrait you painted hanging on your wall!
This fun in-person class is designed for beginners to intermediate-level painters. You’ll be painting from an image of your choice. Can’t draw? Don’t worry, I will help you! There are many ways you can get down an accurate drawing for your watercolor.

Classes are in my garden cottage studio in Encinitas. The studio has large windows for natural light, AC/ heat and refreshments will be supplied.
Requirements
There are none! No previous watercolor experience necessary.

Palette: Any white palette with good-sized paint wells. Buy on a palette with a lid to keep paints clean. Brands -Robert Wood, Cheap Joe's and John Pike
Paper: Arches or Fabriano 140lb cold press paper-Buy full sheets 22x30 inches, pad or watercolor block. You will need ¼ sheets for class)
Paint Brands: Please buy only professional grade paint. Cheep Joe's American Journey, Winsor & Newton (not Cotmans), Daniel Smith, Holbein, M. Graham and Da Vinci are recommended
Paint colors: 3 primary transparent colors-Red, yellow and blue
Rose Matter, Aureolin Yellow and Cobalt Blue
Other colors to consider- Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Sap or Hookers green, Scarlet Lake, Ultramarine Blue
Brushes: Note Watercolor color brushes have short handles with soft hairs. Sizes: Flat brush ¾- inch, and 1 ½ -inch, round #12 Good Synthetic Brands- Cheep Joe's, Golden Fleece, Dream Catcher and Robert Simmons
